About
Liv Cappello (b. 1998) is a self-taught artist based in Somerville, MA, working primarily in oil painting and silkscreen printmaking. Her work explores themes of place, community, and memory — how our surroundings shape who we are and how we stay connected to one another. Recently, she’s been drawn to narrative oil painting, using old family photos, images of loved ones, and familiar neighborhood scenes as source material. Translating these moments into paint allows her to explore how memory shifts over time and how personal histories become shared ones.
Her work has been featured in Artscope Magazine, the Somerville Times, and Zone 3’s Art in Print, and she has exhibited throughout New England, including shows with the Cambridge Art Association, Concord Center for the Visual Arts, and the New Hampshire Art Association. She received a Visual Arts Fellowship in 2026 from the Somerville Arts Council and a Visual Arts Project Grant in 2025.
